I'm new to freshwater fishing and really fishing in general. I went fishing in the lake yesterday, but came up with nothing. I was fishing to the right of the boat ramp. Casting with live comets about an 1.5" when I saw a peecock bass of to the side along the shore. I quickly moved my bait to that spot. Low and behold to bass swam up to my bait only 6in deep. One of them nudge my bait and then they swam away. I waited another10 to 15 min. But they never came back. What did I do wrong? I tried using a kastmaster, plastic worms with a Carolina rig, but nothing bit. What I'm I doing wrong? Or are the fish not bitting?

Peacock bass like warm water... the water temperature last week was 69 to 70 degrees. The peacock bass were just suspended around logs and not moving, no eating, not nothing. I'll be glad when the water temperature reaches 79+ degrees.

Hopefully when I go back the water will be warmer. It was still fun, either way I got to spend some quality time with my son and father in law.

Go for the smaller LMB. They are definitely biting. Same techniques as mainland LMB to! 8)

Yup ran into the same situation last week. Just really waiting for warmer water, or spawning season.
