I understand you are new, so just a kind word of warning. This is not the place to come out and say you're not going to abide by the "catch and release" law of the Lake. Check on Craigslist, often there are peeps selling small fry peacocks on there. Just search the word peacock. I'm not sure shrimp would be an effective bait since it isn't one of the peacocks natural foods. Generally winter is tough fishing months. In the spring, after the spawn, its "game on" for catching peacocks.

Peacock bass feed exclusively on smaller fish...
so little fish looking flys and lures work well.

Right now the "little" fish are about 10 to 12 inches.
I saw a bunch last spring in the 3 to 5 inch range.
Lake Wilson is Catch & Release for all the bass.
But there are some other places where they can be caught.
For information about peacock bass, you might want to check with the kids at Moanalua Pets in Stadium Mall.
