Worlds largest Ahi (yellowfin Tuna)

A 405.2 pound yellowfin tuna has been landed. First tuna over 400 pounds ever recorded.

I've seen a few ahi over 300# in my time, but not many. For the average tourist on a charter boat, a 100 pounder is challenge. A 150 pound Ahi is considered a trophy catch in Hawaii. Recently, a 40 pound ahi was a lot more than I could handle.... I can't even fathom one weighing over 400 pounds.

Stan,

That's an epic catch!!

Owner Mike Lackey, Vagabond sportfishing, Is usually the boat I fish long range.

By the way, Mike was the one that wanted to take you fishing, if you ever made it to San Diego. He's been trying to head over to Honolulu, for some Tuc fishing, for the past few years. Small world.

Mike had offered me the same trip, but with work, no can do. Mike and his crew are one of the best at long range fishing(even for a small 80ft boat).

May be next year, I'll get to fish for the cows again

Missed out on the cows again....

I say this with no disrespect to such an epic catch...no thanks, I would rather not be the one landing it. A 5-foot bronze whaler kicked my butt...can't imagine what a 400lb ahi can do.
