Iwana
It has come to my attention that the fish I called an Iwana... isn't.
Daniel at www.TenkaraUSA.com tells me it's an Ayu.
"Ayu, are indeed "sweet fish", they are known to have a sweet flavor, due to the fact that they are vegeterian fish, and highly prized as food".
I know that last part is a fact.
Iwana (also a charr and close relative of the brookie).
They are very good, I mean nice fish.
This is a plastic replica display.
This little road side stand was in the Japan Alps.
They taste just as good as they smell.
So sweet... really good eats.
Inside dining.

"Why let the truth stand in the way of a good fish story?"
Iwana - Whitespotted Char (Salvelinus leucomaenis)
Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear.
I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger than they really are.
