Trying for a red devil

Postby Modest_Man » Mon Feb 13, 2006 3:18 pm

I'm trying to catch red devil's in a small pond, and I'm wondering how you guys do it. I'm using very light tackle (2lb test) and can get them to follow some lures, but no takers. Any tip would be great.

Red Devils are super fond of Mosquito Fish. You can buy bait at Wahiawa Sporting Goods. Go flip it right into a brush pile , with or without a bobber and your set. If you don't want to live bait, I have had success with a pink yamamoto kahuna and a 3" pink and white grub. The best way to find them is sighting them off the banks. My wife and I went out today and she caught like 7 and I caught 2 just using mosquito fish. It was a good time.

Keep fishing.
