Lake level

Postby tukecher » Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:35 am

After hearing many rumors why the lake level was so low, I finally got the straight poop from DLNR. This is the question that was asked. Was it DLNR or Dole Food Corp that decided to lower the lake level?

DLNR's response:

Yup it was us. We advised the owner to lower and maintain the water level to at least a level (60-65 feet on gage) that would retain in initial 100 year storm event similar to the Dec. 11 storm. We also asked that they lower to about 60 feet or so to expose the upper gate and investigate what would be required to rehabilitate this gate. This was back in February.
The USGS gage bottoms out at about 69 feet. Dole has recently lowered their gage and it reads down to the lower 60s.

So we might as well get used to water level being lower.

The water level is way up from last week... Do you think this is the level they will be keeping the lake at?????
Water under the North Bridge is 12 feet... last week it was 3 feet deep under the bridge.
