Peacock Bass Rule Changes....
Catch & Release is out....
Hook & Cook is in.
Look for new rules regarding bag limits for peacock bass. We should see the rule changes in the very near future.
With water levels in the lake very low there is concern of fish kills, so DLNR is amending the catch and release rules to read catch and keep. They want to thin out the peacock bass population.
Yes, it is safe to eat the peacock bass fillets. Notice I said "Fillets".
Do not eat the guts, the head, the eyes, or brains... don't make soup with the head and bones.... the word I got was "It's safe to eat the fillets". NOT the other stuff.
I don't know what the bag limits will be, or exactly when the rule changes will take place... but I bet it won't be long.
All those "If it's hooked, it's cooked" guys must be chomping at the bit.
