Boating Registration
I am new to the island. I've been out to Lake Wilson a few times and couldn't be happier with the results....except the elusive peacock bass has yet to hit my lures. I've been looking at jon boats or dinghy's. I found a couple I really like and am about to purchse one, but what are the rules with registering the boat? Does it have to be registered for freshwater fishing in hawaii? And if it does, where do I go and how must does it cost to get registered? Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I just re-registered my boat online. Pretty easy. This link has a "questions hotline" number also. Its (808) 587-1970 If you buy a used boat, make sure the owner has the registration. If it is new, make sure to keep the receipt as you may need it to register. The phone number should take care of most any question that comes up.
