water clarity

Postby BASSTRACKER » Tue May 10, 2011 6:49 pm

well its officially orange all the way to the dam, i think the current going over the dam helps drag the mudline to it faster. i wonder how long it will be chocolate?? mudlines on the boats and forget tucs, make sure you run fresh clean water through the outboards after that muddy lake water!!!

I've got good news then! There is already clear, clean water WAY up the north fork! 8) That was a surprise seeing clean water so early after the rains. Actually Whitmore got a DOWNPOUR about 1:30, but was barely drizzling in Wahiawa Town. Go figure. Weatherman says this front will slowly disapate. Hopefully the clear water finds its way down to the main basin soon. Give it a few days.

that is good news, it usually settles down within a few days if the weather holds nice, at least to a manageable color or stain.i think if the weather holds maybe 2 weeks it will be normal and just in time for summer!

well its lost that orange tinge, but it still looks like a big lake of yoohoo. hopefully in another week it will get back to a clear stain, maybe in two back to a decent clarity before they drain it off!!

Today I was using a bright yellow/green spinner bait... I put the rod tip on the surface of the water and lowered the lure down until I couldn't see it. All over the lake that was one foot. Kind or brown color water.

WAY up at the waterfall... it was 4 feet.

Caught largemouth bass on the spinnerbait around Mikimiki
flats. Saw some peacock bass, but no hits. Water temp was 76 degrees.

I stopped by the launch area today, dirty water but didnt look terrible. Then again, I havent seen the lake since August 2010 when Stan took me out.

Water is definitely way up, so sounds like good fishing hopefully will follow.

Oh yeah, no trailers in the parking lot as of about 10:30am
