HEAD SHOTS

Postby Stan Wright » Mon May 01, 2006 8:09 am

Head Shots.

It's a photographers term for a picture of the head and shoulders. A close up.
Lure makers like it because it shows their product in action. Nothing sells a lure like seeing it hanging out of the corner of the mouth of a big fish. <grin>

As the water temperature got up around 79/80 degree mark, the peacock bass and the red devils became more aggressive. Nothing big, everything was in the 1 to 2 pound range, (the largest was just a little over 3 1/2 pounds) but we had lots of fun and lots of action. As I said, the fish were not trophy size, but there were more than enough smaller ones to get some great pictures. (remember, what ever is closest to the camera looks the biggest) LOL

Aloha,
Stan

Stan, have you ever tried using those big topwater plugs to catch tucs in lake wilson? I've seen TV shows of guys tossing 3-4 oz. "woodchoppers" in the Amazon. I wonder if it works in the lake? Thanks.

Huge baits

Postby Stan Wright » Mon May 01, 2006 7:31 pm

Yea, we had a guy from Japan fishing with us last year. He only wanted to use topwater baits. If he couldn't catch a fish on a topwater, it just wasn't fun. In a way I have to agree, there is nothing like a surface strike.

The first day he used those huge Wood Choppers and some other large surface baits.... 5 strikes, no hook ups, and no fish landed.
Chris said they saw lots of fish, but most ran away when he got the big loud surface lure near them. Chris finally got him to at least use smaller size surface lures the next day. He landed 7 nice fish up to 5 pounds, and had at least 25 strikes.
