where to buy fresh bait for saltwater fishing

Postby edde978n » Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:03 pm

Just curious where a good place to buy some fresh bait around here. I want to do some fishing off the pier on Hickam AFB, and didnt know if I should just get some bait at the local grocery store, or if there was a better option. Thanks!

The seafood section at the commissary on hickam...they have shrimp which I feel is the best dead bait. You can also get frozen squid there. If you fell like live bait you can catch it at the dog beach...go at night and bring a bright flash light and a dip net. You gotta be quick. Or I've heard you can get a paddle and hit the water really hard and stun the little fish that look like mullet(not sure if that's what they are) then scoop em up before the recover. I would go catch bait the night before but you have to get a areator pump or they will die.

Just past the fishing pier and before the seawall by the marina or the sea breaze cafe(on your way to the 18 hole golf course. Look for the big pipe going into the water there is a lot of baitfish that hang out there.
