Smallies?

Postby JChen » Wed Jan 14, 2009 9:31 am

I've caught smallies in multiple numbers in the Nu'uanu and Waikele. Dragged one in both Manoa and Maunawili. Has anyone ever taken a look at the streams that run through Waianae, Haleiwa and Waialua for smallies?

Hiked down to Waimano stream today from the marked Waimano trailhead/hunting sign. Absolute goose egg. There were some very likely looking pools but no takers. The water was almost too clear though it wasn't lifeless (saw a few tiny fish <not baby bass> and some toad eggs).
Wherever you go, there you are.

sorry for replying on an old post but so far my favorite smallmouth stream is the one that feeds lake wilson. you know the one with the trailhead head starting at the water towers on california ave. my favorite bait is worms i find in the ground or a small rapala. ive been to maunawili but ive never tried to fish there. if anyone wants to go to these streams or explore some new ones pm me.
