Hi everybody, my name is Sebastian, I live in kilauea on the north shore of Kauai. I moved here about 3 years ago from California but am originally from Uruguay in S.America.
I'm new to the forum and would like to congratulate you all on the great site you guys have going on.
I fished for bass in Cali. but the conditions were tuff, huge lakes, major pressure, it just took a lot of gear, boat , electronics, hundreds of different lures, etc. not to mention plenty of time.
But I also surf and thats why I moved to Kauai, I had no idea of the awesome bass fishing here, much less about the amazing Tucunare.
So to find guys that are as passionate is really exiting.
There are hundreds of reservoirs on Kauai and I think I've fished most of them , but I have never seen another fishermen.
There are no organizations , that I know of ,where you can get together and maybe do something about the several issues that affect the fresh water fishing on Kauai, at least to talk conditions, and share tales maybe some day even fish with some one new.
I have some great fishing photos that I would love to share with everyone.

Welcome to the forum and to Hawaii. I hope you are enjoying Kauai. I love it there. You must try out Barefoot Burgers at the base of Waimea Canyon Road. Awesome burgers! NICE FISH! Could you use a fishing partner the next time I'm on Kauai? I caught a few fish in the Wailua Reservoir and at Waita when I was a kid, nothing worth bragging about though. Now I try to fish there and all I see are "no trespassing" signs.

I understand that Le Roy leased the Waita Res. and has a guided fishing service there. But then I also hear that he isn't doing that any longer. There are a few guys that do guide for largemouth and peacock bass.

Someone said that Sloggett Res is now open to the public. They might be making a park there. What's the story on that? Is there a boat ramp on Sloggett? We use to fly to Kauai and bring our "belly boats". First stop was the gas station air hose. I also remember small mouth bass fishing in almost every stream on Kauai.

As soon as that Superferry starts running, Skunked and I will bring the boat over..... for hamburgers. LOL

Hello Sebastian, if you get a chance you should try Lake Wilson on Oahu. Bass fishing sucks but the tucunare fishing is pretty good. Good way to test your skills.
