ive found at times when they wont touch the normal stuff, throw a small(4-6inch) swimbait and v-wake it on the surface, absolutely rod snapping, line breaking, hook straightening hits. and always the bigger guys that go for em.

What kind of swim bait brand do you use I got a shad and bluegill in the castaic brand looks liflike but shad is to light and doesn't swim right have to go real slow to swim straight and bluegill is kind of big.

Defiantly, the 2 inch, white senko.... in schooling fish, steady retrieve leaving a vee wake on the surface.
Near shore, fast and erratic on the surface.

havent had much luck with the hard swimbaits, especially with the bigger ones. i throw alot of the smaller knobby tail types. flat tire shad, money minnow, xps swimbait. i mix and match the size of the bait an hooks till i get it to run true just below the surface or v at the top, have to play with the retrieve speed and how high the rod tip is too, but once you get it right its very satifying to watch the tucs chasing it.

My best lure.

The lure I have had the most success with which ain't saying much is my little Matzo Top Water Popper. He has a green back and a white belly and gets hit so much I've had to change his red tail out twice already.
Catch and Release!
