food fish???

Postby yoshisbass » Mon Oct 30, 2006 5:38 pm

Just curious on this... Was fishing this weekend and caught a red devil, upon landing and releasing the red devil in front of another boater, he then told me that these are edible...not that I'd eat anything out of the lake because of the signs I've read at the launch area kind of warns me against it...my question is, has anyone eaten or heard of people consuming these?

affirmative! red devils are edible, and depending on how they are prepared, can be tasty! can also be "muddy-tasting", i guess depending on the fish or how they are prepared. my wife is from southeast asia and marinates with lemon grass and deep fries - ono! lot's of bones, tho.
catching the bigger ones (a ppund or over) on ultra-lite is fun, too!
have a great day!
