Scientific name is Nemostuflaris. from the genus talltaleus. Hear they put up quite a tussle on your line. Rumor has it that the "Wicked Tuna" guys are headed to the islands to cash in on this fish. Tsukiji in Tokyo willing to pay top dollar/yen for this species. Flesh is buttery and silky like Hama...

I know that 69 feet was the agreed upon minimum lake level to relieve pressure on the Dam and help prevent flooding downstream. However, they still must be drawing off water to irrigate whatever crops that still need watering. It hasn't rained for more than a month now. No new rainfall to offset wha...

Sounds like you and your bud from PA had a productive day on ol' Lake Wilson. I don't mean to hijack you posting but, I believe or I may be wrong that the area your calling Kascades is called Kincaids after the late Bob Kincaid. Kincaid's runs from Tuc bay up until the Quonset hut point. Bob's house...

The lake had a healthy population of mosquito fish until the early 1970s. Then the needle fish fish and other exotics showed up and wiped them out. No need to buy bait back in the day, just scoop em up in the California grass. Moral of the story:"Never release your exotic aquarium fish in ANY body o...

So the 64 dollar question is ? Is anyone from Dole Corp. physically checking the water at the Dam on a daily basis, or are they just relying on data from the USGS site ? As we have learned from medc808 's post, the USGS gauge bottoms out at the 69 foot level. Hopefully whoever is responsible for reg...

The drain valve at the dam will be open all the time until the water level reaches the 69 Foot level. Thats the agreement between Dole, DLNR and the Aquatics Division to mitigate the potential for flooding down stream and the pressure on the Dam. If it don't rain in the mountains, then there is not ...

Yep, love the high water ! High Water = higher oxygen level > more grass for the shad eggs to stick on > shad starts to repopulate and school up > Tucs and Bass have a field day. Pray for rain to help offset what is being drained off. The shad needs this steady high water scenario to keep their popu...

I believe the DLNR rule about not having more than two artificial flies on one line pertains to the Floater and fly rig that we all use on the Lake. Back in the 1960's the ol floater and fly rig was the go to set up to catch Tucs. Well, people got greedy and they would attach 3-5+ flies aka. damashi...

It's an easy fix. You probably have a stripped pinion gear on the small electric motor and/or the other gear that it turns. Both are made of plastic. The small electric motor (little bigger than a D battery) is what turns the whole motor left and right. Both are housed in the motor housing(rectangle ...

If my fading memory serves me right, that bottom valve that Stan mentions is about at the 20ish to 30ish foot lake level. I recall that the problem they ran into during past inspections was the amount of silt and mud that had collected on top of the valves made it all but impossible to get at. Yep p...

Stuck valve
Pray for Rain, I heard that Dole Co. while making needed repairs on the valve that controls the water flow out of the lake had a bit of a problem. Something in the valve broke and needs fixing and/or replacement. Problem is the valve is stuck in the open position, with no way to close it. That's why...

If you want to run a 24 volt trolling motor, the batteries should be the same. Usually, deep cycle marine batteries are Group 24 or Group 27, the latter being a bigger heavier battery i.e., more lead plates to produce a longer running time. Use 2 12v (new) batteries of the same Grouping and make sur...
