You ever try the double jerbait rig? Pretty cool, quite often when you hook one another will come and grab the other. They are quite a few youtube vids showing how to rig it up. Its pretty easy. You can also do the same thing with swimbaits. Haven't had as much success with that rig.

That's a nice sack! Too bad you fishing a tourny, you would have probably won some cash! Are you putting the coffee scent in all of your baits? I like the sk caffine shads because of the coffee scent. I guess its one of the better scents at masking smells like sunscreen and stuff (which I have to us...

I actually prefer trokars for softjerkbaits over the gamas except for the price difference. The gamas I feel are just about as good, but the trokars aren't worth the extra $. If I didn't have to pay for them, it would be trokar for softjerkbaits(don't like them for texas rigged baits in cover becaus...

Sounds like it was an awesome day. What was the final weight that won it? I wish I was still stationed in Hawaii so I could have participated! I fished a similar type event with the Paralyzed Veterans of America and it was awesome. I drew a Marine who served in Viet Nam and was paralyzed from the wa...

That is an awesome picture! That is definitely rare to get them all at once. My grand slam was completed all the way up at the North Fork, not from the same school but they were probably all within 50ft of each other. Wasn't surprised that the smallie and LGM were up there..but there was also a tuc ...

I use to do the same thing with the tucs. I noticed it one day when the schooling action was a little sparadic. I would hit some busting action catch a fish or two then it would die down. So I would fire up the outboard to move and just about everytime I did, they would come back up. I imagine they ...

FF a good baitcasting set up for a small jerkbait is the allstar micro guide topwater rod. I've had one for a little while now and its quite nice for squarebills, jerks and obviously topwaters. It is light and limber enough to cast a smaller bait acurately and has enough flex to keep from pulling tr...

If I remember correctly I think tackle warehouse does free shipping to hawaii on orders over $50. And if you do the 2 or 3 day shipping its like 5 bucks...unless you get a rod you will get double cost of shipping because they pack it seperately. The only reason I even shop at bass pro anymore is bec...

California seems to be pretty good at screwing up awesome fisheries! My "home" lake, lake Casitas used to have I believe 6 of the the top 10 largest bass ever caught....then they stopped stocking the rainbows in the winter that the big bass ate. From what my old tourny partner has told me there are ...

I'd put money down saying it's a largemouth. Definitely not a smallie and it's unlikely it's a spot as it was caught at lake wilson where there is no reason to believe there are any spots you'd have to count the dorsal fin spines to be %100 but the lateral markings aren't as pronounced as they usual...

Re: Monster!

Ok guys I just caught a 17 in 2.12lb jaguar cichlid, state record no doubt.im not putting it back in the lake, it's to unique to kill. Does anyone with a large aquarium or pond want it? This post reminds me about how similarly we fish. I got a big Jaguar Cichlid at condo cliffs last year only I was...

NICE FISH! Looks like you had a great trip! I got to Texas last year on May 30 and it was 114! Still prefer that over 95 and 99% humidity down here in Ga though! I was in Texas for 3 months and failed to get a double digit fish :( did however catch 5 that were 5lbs and a whole bunch of 4's. Recently...

Best bang for your buck IMO is a shimano symetre. I've had those for years and they've always performed well. I think the I have a Sustain and a Fuego both are super nice. The Sustain feels more solid but the fuego is definitely lighter. I'd be hard pressed to say which one is better. Like em both. ...

That one is pretty clever! Similar to the one I was talking about but I like it a little more as it creates the same effect, but it doesn't actually have the extra arms.
