So more of my thoughts :) I'd also suggest the pro 16 with a 20hp 4 stoke merc website says that'll go 22-24mph probably more like 18-22 with people and gear but speed is of no concern on wilson. Would probably only fish 2 people comfortably but is rated for 3 people. Doesn't have much storage but i...

For wilson an aluminum boat is perfect! I would also suggest getting a tracker pro 16 or something similar. They are already set up with the basic things for bass fishing. Also, if you aren't planning on leaving Hawaii i'd go with the smallest outboard that it comes with to help save some money. It'...

Gotta use the sardines for the lings! That is if they have em. I remember there being a lot of restrictions on ling cod fishing...you could only target them in certain depths of water or something and only for certain months of the year. I hated fishing in really deep water, especially when you are ...

Anyone checked out Daiwas new lineup of reels..seems like they overloaded their line of top end reels. I would like to have them all :) I've heard good things about the duckette rods too, I read somewhere that he did away with the carrot stix because they way they started making them he was breaking...

And we started our long paddle back, luckily we brought 2 small oars. Your story reminded me of a similar experience on Wilson. Same thing happend to me but luckily I wasn't as for up the lake as you, what was not so lucky was I had left the ores in the bed of my truck :( I was about half way betwe...

Marcusn, what did you you decide on for your rod? If you have decided yet? Curado 200e's are on sale at tacklewarehouse.com for 140. Skunked, did you see that the new Curado 200 G series comes in almost all gear ratios? I think the only reel that I really "need" is the Castaic for my flippin stick. ...

I have no clue how many different rock fish I've caught on those boats but my favorite were the lingcod. One week I went out mon-Friday and won the jackpot 4 days in a row with lings. Since I was fishing for free I gave the deckhand like 80 percent of my winings. All I did as far as "work" went was ...

I really like the pics of the sand bass chocking on the plastics!!! It brings back memories from when I used to "work" on the sportfishing boats in So Cal. I can't remember what year, probably around 1998 but they had the the famous "El Nino" The Calico and Sand Bass fishing was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I g...

I have the revo S, and wouldn't buy another. First off I've had it for only 2 years and it's broken, probably repairable, but that's not the point . Second, it doesn't have a magnetic spool control that is standard on almost all low profile reels. It does cast a mile and is fairly smooth, but got wi...

I have A LOT of rods! From top end team daiwa steez and gloomis, to the low/mid level cabellas prodigys. Since moving back to the mainland I've also been able to hold and mess with a lot of rods i'd been eyeballing online. In my opinion the best bang for your buck rods are made by allstar and specif...

Actually one of the fish I set on broke my line! Doesn't gurantee it was a big fish but i'd like to think it was. I was actually lucky enough to catch a 10lb4oz bass when I was 14 at lake casitas in so cal. Plan on going back there next spring to try to beat my record. I have more faith that I can d...
