It is pretty much the same thing as an umbrella rig except it is designed to be cast and not trolled. People have been using them for a while but they only got "popular" since the top 5 pros in the last FLW tourney were all reported to have used it to. I ordered a couple just to check em out. The fi...

I found at Wilson the largemouth move into the grass almost immediately when the water rises. The first week is the best, then the bite slows after that and is almost done after two weeks. I liked fishing frogs and flipping baits/jigs(with a rattle) in dark colors in the grass(try a glass bead and a...

Field and Stream tech spec rods
Since being on the mainland I've been able to check out a bunch of rods. Dicks sporting goods carries the field and stream tech spec rods which sell for $60, I bought their flipping stick and was really impressed. Gonna pick up one of their spinning rods for dropshotting as well checked that one out...

I fished a few American Bass tournaments at Alamo as well at Havasu. I lived in phoenix for awhile but did most of tournament fishing in california while in high school visiting my pops. Havasu was always hit and miss for us we were either on them really good or struggling to get bit, alamo on the o...

I used to use a 1/8 oz kastmaster and tie foot long leader to the back hood that had a small fly on the end of the leader. It actually worked really well and it was about 50/50 on what one they'd actually eat. It does take a little of the action away from the kastmaster but it adds more action to th...
