Re: Blue Boat Point

Thanks for the report, Stan. Wish I could go but had a knee replacement done about a month ago, so out of action for awhile. Save some for me. LOL

how is the fishing?

I went down to the lake this past Sunday. I fished from 6 to 10. The water level was about 65 feet. Nice weather. I did not see one boat pass by. Was wondering what happened.

sb1313

Please support bill sb1313. This bill will facilitate enhancing the genetic stock of both largemouth bass and tucunare. Currently, the lm bass fishery is suffering. It is hoped that by bring in northern strain of largemouth from the mainland it will enhance the genetic gene pool in lake Wilson. In a...

Re: Boat Ramp Problems...

I still think they should charge the people in Wailua who live in the flood zone for the service. That way the money could be used to build a new dam or maintenance of the lake. Is the ramp and park still open?

low water

I fished the lake before the storm, most of the adult fish were still in spawning mode. As the storm approached the state drained the lake about 5 feet or so. All the nest are high and dry now. It will interesting to see if the tucs will start schooling again since they lost their nest. Some spawnin...

Re: The Dam held

If the dam is that unsafe they need to repair or rebuild it, instead of hoping it doesn't breach.

Re: Water Level

I agree, the fishing was better when the water was higher. The good old days, less homeless too. They pretty much trashed the lake. They should charge the people who live in the flood zones in Wailua for flood control and use the money to improve and maintain the lake.

Re: Boat ramp

Water level rose about 5 feet. Fishing still slow. Saw couple of boats this morning. Not much going on. Caught 7 tucs. 4 were in the 1.5 pound range the rest were lest than 10 inches.

Re: Casting reels: shimano vs. daiwa?

In Hawaii, shimano spinning reels are the most popular from what I observed. Most of Hawaii's fisherman are saltwater anglers. For me, my reels have to be versatile because I am a budget and also do so many types of fishing. I tend to stick to models rather than companies. I like the stradic line of...

Re: Why sudden rise of Lake Wilson?

Unfortunately, the DNLR uses the lake for flood control. Holding back the water during storms. Releasing the water when the weather clears. Hurts the fishing, but helps the people who live in the flood zones in Wailua. Kind of sucks. I doubt if they pay anything for the service.

Re: Vegetation for Lake Wilson

I remember when the old trestle was falling a part, large pieces of the frame wash up on the shoreline. The California grass would grow onto it and eventually it cover the floating wood and form a grass island. These "islands" would occasionally break away from the shore and float to other...
