Tubing Wilson

Aloha Ghoti, I float tube Wilson as much as possible. It's an excellent small lake for tubing. I have several areas on the lake I put in at but my main areas are the boat ramp and right along the road across from Boy Scout island. Just pull off not far after the stoplight and 1st intersection to Sch...

Rules

Hey Chris, Welcome! You'll need a freshwater license along with a lake permit. Both can be obtained at Sports Authority or Wal-Mart among other places. The license is around $5 or so and the permit is free. There are no mandatory memberships. I've heard you need a life jacket even if you are on shor...

Mahalo

Mahalo Stan for the good info on the ulua lures. They look like some of the Kaku lures WalMart and KMart sell. By the way, I've never heard of backlash!?!

Fishing WAS tough!

I fished Wilson on Friday and you hit the nail on the head Stan, the tucs were everywhere but didn't hit a thing. I fished for about 3-4 hrs only to catch 1 fish. I managed to catch a large mouth sitting at the edge of a fallen tree top on a white spinnerbait. He was only 13" but he made my day stre...

Thanks for the info

Aloha Fellas, Hey mahalo for all the info on the ulua and such. BSP: Throwing a sinking lure after a missed strike is what we used to do in Texas/Oklahoma for stripers and hybrids. You're right, it does work. You know when the first one smashed the lure it scared the crap out of me so bad I almost j...

Papio catch

Aloha All, I was out fishing Wailua Bay off Haliewa last week and ran into some exciting papio action. I was off shore about 1/4 mile or so I guess and around dusk I saw a fish surface so I tied on a top water Pop R. On my second cast I had a HUGE explosion on my bait about 20 feet from my kayak tha...

Aloha Stan, I know exactly what you mean about getting excited about a fishing supply store. That reminds me of a story...When I lived in Altus Oklahoma in the late 80s early 90s a friend and I were just getting real serious about bass fishing. We joined a local bass club and fished tournaments out ...

Aloha Skunked, I know what you mean about the fishing pressure on the lakes. It can get crazy at times especially with the recreational boaters and jet skis. That is the main reason I stuck to the smaller, less known lakes in Texas. I'm thinking the Alan Henry could produce a state record given the ...

Aloha Skunked, I was wondering if you have ever fished Lake Alan Henry? Hands-down, it's the hottest bass lake right now in Texas. I moved from Abilene 2 1/2 years ago and fished it for about 4 years and OHHH I miss it. It's a relatively new lake but the bass have quickly grown at a tremdous rate. M...
