That is one ugly fish. Caught that at Wilson? No, that was caught at Lake Barrett in Southern California. A very special fishery that under the right conditions will yield 100+ fish days. Thats is a large mouth. The fishes smaller mouth and questionably shaped head have no bearing on its genetics (other than it may be a little awkward looking).

Im originally from Hawai'i, but have lived on the mainland for 18 years. I currently live in San Diego and my job is potentially relocating me to Hawaii later this year. I fished Lake Wilson reguarlly as a kid but it sounds like there have been many changes (the intro of exotics) to the eco system. ...
