The good, the bad and the Bob 7/21 HFFA fishing

The July HFFA tournament was held today under mostly bluebird skies, water level at 74 feet and in the 81-85 degree range. It was a good day of fishing as every angler was able to catch fish but also a bad day for catching a lot as the sunshine conditions made for a difficult day as four anglers wer...

carp fishing

I got one about six months ago. Actually I was trying different lures as the bass was not cooperating and decided to try this little lead head jig with a paddle tail lure. Was using 6lb test line and threw this lure along the bank near a tree limb and a carp inhaled the lure. Thought it was a Tuc at...

Super moon report 6/23/13

Super moon fishing was mostly overcast skies and persistent rains throughout the day with some late afternoon sunshine. The water level was about 75 feet with calm winds. It was a very difficult catching day as we flipped, jigged, cranked, wormed, spinned, spooned, dropped, shaked, creatured, rattle...

The anykine anglers were out again on Saturday at our secret location in search of anykine fish. One of the things that we encounter on our anykine adventures are the many different kinds of anykine fish that we see in the waters. Stuff like spotted eagle rays, spiny balloon fish, mullet, and weke a...

Ulua kihikihi (Kagami )

The anykine anglers were out again on Saturday in search of papio. This time, we were not only looking to tag and fin clip any papio species but the quest was on to catch the elusive juvenile Ulua kihikihi or kagami papio. This papio is also known as the African pomano or Alectis Cilaris, and is arg...

papio chasers

Our "secret spot" was a bit more stained than usual but nothing like the chocolate waters of a couple of days ago. There was more rubbish floating along the banks and with all the "fresh water", it likely affected the bite. ( at least that's the excuse I'm using )

papio chasers

The anykine anglers went out on Saturday (6/1) for a day of anykine angling, but mainly looking for papio to add to the DLNR fin clipping and tagging project. Number # 1 anykine angler Garey hooked this 8" Omilu, too small to tag but big enough for a fin clipping. ( hooked on a secret anykine angler...

Fishing in Branson

Well, cross another bucket list item for this anykine angler. Spent a week in Branson Missouri taking care of my wife who always wanted to go there to check out all the shows. Who knew that Branson is also home to three world class fishing lakes. My wife was kind enough to accompany me on a 1/2 day ...

excellent LMB day 3/22/13

Robert Duenas, a new HFFA member; went out on the lake on Friday and had a great day. Here's his experience: " 22 March 2013 from 0700-1130 AM was an excellent morning. Having been on island for only 6 months was by far my most memorial fishing day. The Bass on island sure are not like in the states...
