2/19/12 HFFA Fishing Tounament

15 anglers in nine boats took part in the February HFFA monthly tournament. Morning weather conditions included blustery winds and heavy passing showers, just a perfect day for fishing. The water temperature was about 71 degrees for most of the day with the water level at about 70 ft. As the day gre...

The Acme Castmaster

It's a good thing that we can now get ( secret ) lures and other stuff from on-line stores fairly quickly. Ordering things now is a lot faster than trying to complete a catalog order and mailing it in, especially when one is looking for golden colored ( secret ) lures that work one eighth of the tim...

Schooling Peacock Bass

Hmm, the small ( secret ) lure works again. Were they working one-fourth
of the time you were using them or was it more like one-eighth of the time.
Last year, the small ( secret ) lures caught nothing as the Tucs seem to prefer other lures.

Bass hatchery Cleanup - Sunday, February 12th

Hi All, We're asking for volunteers to come and help cleanup the bass hatchery grounds and facility. We will be trimming back the grass line and clearing trash and green waste and loading them into dumpsters. Bring your garden/yard tools, weed/grass cutters and gloves, or just bring yourself. We pro...

Sunday, 22 report

Basshead was fishing in the HFFA January tournament. Needless to say,
his three Tucs produced the heaviest total weight caught for the day.

Best Bass Fishery in Hawaii?????

If you do a google search of Halalii, Halulu and Nonopapa Lakes, the search comes up as lakes found on the island of Niihau. As this is a privately owned island - not sure if anyone can go there to fish. I was unaware that there were lakes on Niihau so someone with knowledge might post about that. M...

lavage

Ater the most recent HFFA tournament, a few members conducted some lavage testing on Bass and Tucs to examine and document what these fish are eating. The results revealed that most of the stomach contents were empty, a few had remnants of fish and other mostly unidentifiable stuff. This testing was...

tagged fish & HFFA December tournament

December HFFA tournament held today ( 12/11/11 ) - water temp was about 70.5 degrees pretty much the entire day - cloudy, windy gusts at times made fishing difficult, although some nice bass and Tucs in the 3-4 pound range were caught. 1st place weight ( 3 fish total ) went over nine pounds. There w...

HFFA Tournament

I second the comments made by roadwarriorsvt. I've been a HFFA member going on my second year and have learned a lot from my fellow anglers and have made many new friends. By the way, the 4.4 Tuc takes over as the largest Tuc for 2011 edging out the previous leader by an ounce. The largest bass for ...

HFFA Tournament

HFFA tournament today - windy, mostly overcast, occasional rain, periodic sun, more rain, more wind. It was this kind of day and it made fishing a little tough. 18 members fished the tournament, the most in a long time. Today was the Turkey shoot tournament with cash prizes awarded for the largest a...
