i know! i think all the red devils splashing around the bread got the smallmouth all excited, then he just attacked the first thing he saw, which was my little bread ball haha.

i use small trout spinners for smallmouths. bait wise, id use small mosquito fish. pound for pound i say smallmouth fight the hardest so use 4 pound test for some fun

just a random idea, we should have a little fun competition to see who can catch the state record red devil. since i gurantee there are red devils bigger than the current state record.

i got one of those stuck in my knee before...... but its ok since i catch smallies on that lure! i think ill start using it for tucs, perhaps the white color.

ya he usually helps the kids in the front, just move all the way down to avoid him. thats what i do!! you can try casting for smallmouths this way. i dont think theres acually a rule saying no overhead casting.

when i went i didnt see any, but people told me those illegal guys would go at night on a boat and net all the halalu. but like you said the stupid DLNR people wont catch these guys so they are just gonna keep doing it.

finesse type retreive?

i tried a zoom finesse worm in purple a couple times and havent had any luck. i am texas rigging it with a 1/8th ounce bullet weight. im not really sure how to retrieve the worm. i tried twitching my rod 2 times, then letting it drop. any suggestions?
