Stan I'm surprised you haven't hooked a needlefish on Tenkara gear yet, seems like the perfect size flies for them. I remember when those needlefish were first spotted in the Lake and all the eggheads saying they would cause the apocalypse, same as snakeheads on the Mainland. Speaking of which anyon...

Stan, every time I see all them cichlids you're catching on your Tenkara rod you make me want to dust my Tenkara rods off for some action. Just out of curiosity have you tried Tenkara in saltwater? Last time I was out at the Kaneohe Sand Bar whipping a small gold Kastmaster I was hooking up numerous...

Remember, the speed limit in Lake Wilson is 5 miles per hour so keep the speed down especially when passing shore fishers, and there should be an impact damage will be kept to the very minimum, and obstacles much easier to spot and avoid going slow.

When Nu'uanu Res. was open for catfish season there were plenty fat mozambiques in the res too with no bag limits so I would always target them and bring a few home to fry up. They were very clean from that mountain res so very good eating the only place I'd ever eat a tilapia from caught wild in Ha...

I've had great success on Kaku using Yo-zuri Crystal minnows, Kastmasters, and Krocodile spoons. The most fun has been using topwater plugs like Zara Spooks, Rebel Pop'rs, etc., very exciting watching a torpedo quickly home in on your topwater lure, missing it a couple times before hanapa'a da bugga...

The large Kaku of Ka'elepulu LOVE busting into schools of Black-Chins sometimes attacking from below (ala GWS on seals) and getting airborne sometimes 6 feet into the air, quite a sight to witness. When I was a kid growing up in the mid 60s the Ka'elepulu canal had all huge Oreochromis mossambicus (...

Mine is similar to the type below that my dad used in the SW Pacific during WWII. I like the mosquito net. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/Ahnkochee/MUKASHI/GIJungleHammockWWIINewGuinea1943.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Texsport-Wilderness-Hammock-Mosquito-Netting/dp/B001ASEJSU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd...

Looks pretty awesome Stan. You can always camp out at Peacock Flats and if during bird season pop some dinner with a 12 gauge. I have a hammock loosely based on the WWII Jungle Hammock which includes a waterproof roof which I have been dying to try somewhere in the woods. My dad used the same type i...

My Bro-in-law in Cali swears by his Brinkman electric smoker, and from the samples of smoked Rainbow Trout he brings over I have to agree. They are pretty solidly built, and very affordable at around a hundred bucks a pop. If you're industrious you can make a smoker from an old steel locker and use ...
