Nice to hear that the Bluegills are showing up again. Have there been any good sized channel cats caught lately?

I'm a Lurker.... but dang do I miss Wahiawa Reservoir

I check this site weekly and my wife thinks I'm crazy since we now live in Arizona. Long story, short. I was born and raised on Oahu and grew up fishing Wilson. I first started fishing from the shore (behind the school...cant remember the name) and also by the sewage pipes. Eventually, I got myself ...

I got one, although not from Wilson. I took my son fishing in the White Mountains of AZ last month for Apache trout. He gets a "bite" and...hanapa'a...fish on. Fish gets landed, smallish 13 incher. Here's where it gets interesting. Somehow the Apache had been hooked before (and broken off) and there...

1st thing that came to mind when I read this, like Stan said, was puntat. They were a great bait back in the day. Does anyone still use them?

WOW

I havent been active at all lately, but have been lurking and reading up on Lake Wilson weekly. This really is bad news about Kokee. I remember many years in the late 80's early 90's that we would all jump a plane from Oahu to Kauai just to catch a few 'Bows. Good times and a lot of "Hanapa'as". Ver...

Way, way back in the day (early 90's) I liked throwing a purple or black Power Craw rigged Carolina style for LMB. My go-to lure for the tucs was a small chartreuse Roadrunner.

Of course, nothing beat live Tilaps though.

It seemed like we used to catch those Pongee fairly often in the late 80's early 90's, and always on a medaka or baby tilapia. I never had the guts to eat one and always released. I do remember hearing from more than a few people that if you took them live to a Chinese restaurant w/ a large aquarium...

When I was in college I used to drop down into "Da Creek" from Wahiawa Heights, usually alone (stupid by the way, dont do this). The only way to effectively fish it was too walk, wade, swim up the stream. Never saw a trail that parallelled the stream. I remember one good 75 yard stretch that was a s...
