Peacocks are very aggressive and they attack anything, so I don't think eight inches is to big. They might not be used to it's color or profile, but if you work it right they will attack. Good luck!

The State is good at taking surveys, but that's about all. The lake seems to be a thorn in the state's side. It's there, they just don't know what to do with it. They have no direction. And they always cry proverty when it come to maintaining or building it up. Lake Wilson could be a world class dra...

The posting of recipes is a much better idea. Cheesecake doesn't ship well. It needs to be refridgerated and handled very gently & carefully. That's something neither USPS, FeDEX, UPS, DHHL, or any of the common carriers do well in any sense of the word. BTW, my Mom makes the best pineapple upsi...

Treating "ick" can be very tricky. The way we did it at HCC was to prepare a big enough container, or containers, to fit the fish in and treat the water with commercial "ick" medicine. Let the fish swim around in the container(s) for the specified time. While they're swimming you need to drain the p...

An easier way, than digging, to find worms is to wet the ground and throw down a few bread slices. Worms love bread and if there are any in the area they will surface and start munching. Usually within 15 minutes. Or to keep them in the area, just clear a small patch of ground (usually under a shady...

The Government is closing down...time to go fishing!

Aloha, I'll be off for the next few weeks, so I figured it's a great time to get up to the lake and do some fishing. I usually go with Stan or Chris, but seeing as how I won't be getting paid for quite a while...it's hard to justify the out lay of cash. Instead I'd like to hitch a ride with anyone t...

Sounds like a worthwhile plan. Let me/everyone know when and were and I'll do everything in my power to make it. Aloha!

Oh, yeah...do we get to keep what we catch/collect or are we catching and releasing/recycling?

You might try Honolulu Community Colleges Maritime Marine Center. The have classes on fixing & maintaining boats. They were featured on a local fishing show a while back and the subject was "Prop Repair & Overhaul". They probably have a few alumni wandering the island, Sand Island Marina, Al...

Having an open season, or time period, on taking Tukes less than 3 pounds would benefit the fishery greatly. Taking the smaller, immature fish really doesn't hurt. But releasing the bigger fish, the brooders, or breeders, is the key. The big mature fish produce more eggs & fry than the little, i...

The fish could have been injured as a fry and was able to adapt to its minor deformity. If that's the case, then it's adapted quite well as it looks very healthy. On the other hand it may be a genetic abnormality. When I raised Talapia, at HCC, I saw lots of talapia that had genetic abnormalities. M...

This might be one of those "You had to be there" kind of stories. But it was funny, if not weird,at the time. I was camping at Makua Beach, about 300 yards (Kaena Pt. Side) from "Pray For Sex" with the family and friends. One morning, just after sunrise, I decide to go try my luck dragging a 6" Neut...

Seeing as they are huge I don't think there's anything in the lake that can touch them. But their offspring will make excellent food for the bass!
