Did you guys see the nat-geo program- monster fish- about that? the first pongees were smuggled in for food, then discarded in the washington Dc area waters. now they're trying to get a grip on the population and the rapid infestation.

Hi skunked. nope not yet. no rod yet either. I did see the curado and citica "e" 's on tackletour. looks pretty good. lots of new reels coming tho. will keep you posted.

I remember having a berkley combo. the rod and reel was blue, no roller on the bail and I lost the handle after using it only the 2nd time at the Haleiwa breakwater. Make sure you've got a good cover for the tank or you many find your snowflake eel dried up on the ground somewhere. They're notorious for that.

Awesome smallies! Great catch. I've lived all my life in the Kalihi/ Liliha area and have never tried those little streams other than for medaka/tilapia/crayfish. The miracle of freshwater fishing!!! I had a chance to try a friend's 7' ML w/ fast taper rod. It was a BPS model, not a shimano or ffenwick but it sufficed. I got a good feel of the flex of the rod. now just gotta decide which one......maybe both.....
