Clear lake fish report (a little late)

Greetings all, Had the opportunity to fish Clear lake, northern California, last week, for some epic large mouth bass fishing. Now, some are going to say, "bs", because of no pictures, but it does'nt matter, because I was there. Fished it three days, mainly with swim baits and other stuff  ...

Re: hybrid bass

Greetings all, It's a shame that people think that Florida strain large mouth bass(LMB) would eliminate the local bird population. Heck, let's also include the duck population as well. LMB eating birds and ducks are very, very rare occasions. Lake Wilson has an excellent fishery, which would only ge...

Skunked, I'm impressed with your collection. It appears you too have vested time and money in the hobby you love 8) I think your next subject should be "terminal tackle", that will show how really addictied we are to fishing. Most of my rods are 7' to 7'-6". All my swim bait rods are 8'-0 to ...

J man, Nice tuc! As aggressive as tucs are, I'm surprised more people don't get double hook-ups. It would have been epic, to catch a small tuc, and have a bigger one, try to make that smaller tuc a meal  Again, excellent fish! Mel "Kahuna bass" Dark side live biater

Skunked, I can truly say that "I am a tackle ho"! 8) I strongly recommend the Twin power spining reel, great price, and just a class below the Stella. Excellent drag system. I too also recommend the Metanium XT(I have mine with the tricked out graphite handle) When I do fish frogs, I need all the le...

Skunked, I too have become a tackle "ho" collecter. Never have enough time to fish, just a little here and there. Yes, your right, my reel is a Calcutta TE 200 GT. I used it mainly for throwing smaller swim baits, but on this day, it was used for slinging live bait. Had a great time workin...

Thanks Stan!

We found the fish in various locations. You had to work for the quality size fish. All of our fish were over 17", and lost a couple that were really nice.

Going to get the bigger ones next time 8)

Re: go small

Greetings 007:BASSINASSASSIN, Thanks for the tip. I did try a couple of the smaller swim baits I had(4" Ospery), again, followers, but not takers. Tucs and largemouth do have some behavior habits that are common, but as I have learned lately, big bait/big fish theory may not be the norm, under most ...

Greetings all, Had the honorable pleasure of fishing with Stan"the man, the legend, the Photog" guy and Mike "Mr. Blue boat, with the broken hooks for his kids" the past few days. And Im sadden to report, that I had no love on the swim baits. Tossed the big plastic and wood baits Sunday and Monday a...

Re: Getting better

Greetings J_man, I think your right, Stan "the man, the legend, the photog guy", has drifted over to the "dark side" I think we can thank "blue boat Mike" for that, its all his fault. It's no shame in his game, he just kicks my butt every time. Matter of fact, Mike too has twisted my...

Boatless one of the best colors/lures to use at night is black plastic worms, not sure why but the fish can see it better. Kinda the same thing when you're fishing real murky/muddy water, dark blues, purples and blacks do well. A couple night tournaments I've fished in we used some worms that had g...
