Howzit Stan, It appears fishing is still going strong. 8) The pictures of the large mouth bass are pretty bad. Just by chance, has anyone done any recent studies of the LMB? Could it be health issues? You mentioned that some LMB were as thick as Tuc's, but after looking at some of the pic's, could i...

FishinFrenzy Dave, Well come to the Darkside of Big swimbaits!! Nothing like throwing the big lure and having them go crazy. There are so many makes and models on the market, it's like buying a new car. One of my favorite is dead sticking a big swim bait, espacially when I know there are s...

Think big or go home  Stan - I've got a collection of swim baits for you (some plastic, some wood) I must convert you to the Dark side of throwing the "big stuff" Little small live bait are cute and work good, so are all the pretty little flies-----but the ti...

Hey Stan, I certainly agree with you about the slot limits. It would make a big difference in the future of the Tuc's. Let's hope the state's fish testing come's back good. As for the crappie, it would be nice, but there is too much competion for the shad and other local small bait fish. Crappie are...

Thanks Skunked! I forgot we had this dicussion back in November 07. It's just to bad the problem continues. The balance of power is just too much for the weaker large mouth bass. Tuc's have just dominated the lake. It's also too bad that there are no slot limits for Tuc's, which would result in larg...

Hey Guys, It really makes you wonder how healthy the large mouth bass population really is. I keep reading about a lot of skinny fish. And catching the same fish that often, it really doesn't sound that good. I remember fishing with Stan, I believe back in April. He caught a really long fish, that w...

Greetings all, The new series Ultimate bluegills do standout a bit more than the original bluegills. Go on: http://www.mattlures.com Matt explains what has to be done to get the fins to flare out more. You can see difference in what it does for the action. Greetings All, It is too bad the littering has become the problem it is. If everyone just took the extra time to get rid of their own trash, it sure would make a big difference. It's not just Hawaii, we have it bad here in SoCal too. It's too bad we can't have it as nice as Singapore!! City is clean...

FishinFrenzy, The latest style of Matt lures bluegill baits are fantastic. However, like most soft plastic baits, after a couple nice size fish, they take a beating. Overall, the details are excellent. The fin/flared movements add anther element to fishing. 8) Another bait to consider, is the "Baits...

JChen,

Excellent report.

Last time I caught smallies was in Idaho/Washington, many years ago. Outstanding fighters, espacially in the streams. Tough for there size.

By the way, time to invest in more poppers

Ahnkochee, The times I've dropped shot the lake, I've had some success. Though most of the bass were small, I believe if you put the time in, you'll be lucky. Drop shotting is one of my favorite ways of catching bass back in SoCal. I normally use a 7ft spinning rod, with an extra fast tip, 5-6 lbs m...

FishinFrenzy, First fishing pole  It was a bamboo stick, about 6ft, tied with light fishing line at the end, which I spent many hours fishing Kalihi valley stream, back in the day..........not catching a whole lot :( As for actual fishing rod/reel combo: it was something my mom won at bingo, b...
